Loveland, OH, July 17, 2010 – Imagine an elegant ball where masked revelers dance on the grounds of a historic stone castle while entertained by fire breathing belly dancers, sword swallowers, and aerial artists spinning on colorful drapes. Sound like something out of a glamorous movie? This is all part of the line up for Queen City Cabaret’s latest event, the “Masked Cabaret,” in a mission to revive the tradition of Vaudeville entertainment in Cincinnati.

With the advent of films, and then television, the art of Vaudeville live entertainment began to fade in the early 20th century. From the 1880s to the 1930s, Vaudeville was America's most popular form of entertainment with jugglers, magicians, music, dancing, and nearly all other forms of live performers. In recent years it would appear that the demand for these colorful and imaginative shows are making a come back all over the country and Queen City Cabaret is proving to be Cincinnati's premiere production group in this artistic renaissance.

Queen City Cabaret, Founded by Travis Fessler of the Pickled Brothers Sideshow and Aloysius of Cincinnati Below, is a troupe of a varying local performers whose talents range from burlesque to sideshow magic, from the alluring to the grotesque. May of this year saw their “Secret Cabaret” show, but the latest installment, the “Masked Cabaret,” is a Regency and Victorian inspired masquerade at Historic Chateau LaRoche, better known as Loveland Castle. While Fessler and Aloysius assure us that audience members do not have to wear elaborate outfits and a fancy mask, they also assure us that many of the people there will be dressed in their finest garb with prizes given for the best masks and costumes.

The masquerade is on Saturday July 17th with the gates and festivities opening at 8:00 PM. “Lord” Aloysius is your castle host for the evening and will MC entertainment from aerial dancers Jamming Talent, Magic by Robbin Marks, tribal belly dance by Dante's Gypsy Circus, and circus acts by the Pickled Brothers Sideshow. Vendors and fortune tellers will also be on hand making the event even more festive. “Imagine belly dancers, aerial artists, and fire-breathers all against a backdrop of a Medieval castle,” Aloysius says of the event. “This will be like nothing you've seen before, and may never see again!” More details and advance tickets can be found on their website www.QueenCityCabaret.com
