The Observation Deck

Carew Tower

Look! I can see my house from here! I can also look down onto Fountain Square, watch cars creep across all of Cincinnati’s major bridges, and track barges and pleasure boats as they cruise up and down the river. For only $2, the best panoramic view of the entire Cincinnati basin can be had atop the Carew. At least until 2011 (when Great American Insurance Building at Queen City Square snags the honor), the Art Deco-influenced Carew Tower is Cincinnati’s tallest building, and its 41 elevators take you to the 45th floor. You have to navigate the last four floors on your own to get to the rooftop observation area. Hint: it’s a winding, narrow staircase gets you to the top. It’s totally worth it.

I know so few Cincinnatians

I know so few Cincinnatians who have actually done this! Unbelievable. The best time was when I was up on top of the Carew shooting pics of the ice rink and they started shooting off fireworks. First time I'd ever been above fireworks looking down onto them. Pretty cool.

Good health is harder to

Good health is harder to define than bad health (which can be equated with the presence of disease), because it must convey a concept more positive than mere absence of disease, and there is a variable area between health and disease. Health is clearly a complex, multidimensional concept. Health is, ultimately, poorly defined and difficult to measure, despite impressive efforts by epidemiologists, vital statisticians, social scientists and political economists. Each individual's health is shaped by many factors, including medical care, social circumstances, and behavioral choices

Seasteading is poised to move forward in some big ways, including a new venture being launched by former Seasteading Institute staff. Max Marty and Dario Mutabdzija, former directors of business and legal strategy respectively, are starting a seasteading venture named Blueseed. Blueseed will create a visa-free technology incubator for startups and knowledge workers in international waters off the coast of the San Francisco Bay Area. For more information,
